POSITION INFO:
THE OPPORTUNITY We are looking for a Content and Social Media Specialist with strong social media management experience to take ownership of content planning, creation, publishing and digital engagement across marketing channels. The successful candidate will turn podcast material, existing brand assets, industry developments and social trends into relevant, engaging and platform-appropriate content. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can combine creative thinking with strong organisation, strategic planning and an understanding of what drives audience attention and engagement across today''s digital platforms. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Content Strategy & Editorial Planning Translate podcast episodes, existing content and archived material into practical content plans. Create and maintain weekly, monthly and seasonal content calendars. Plan how campaigns and individual pieces of content should be adapted for each social platform. Ensure content reflects the relevant brand identity, tone, audience and campaign objectives. Make sure content concepts support wider brand messaging, positioning and marketing objectives. Participate in regular planning and performance review meetings. Identify relevant cultural, industry and social trends and find appropriate ways for the brand to participate. 2. Social Media Management Take responsibility for the daily management and upkeep of assigned social media channels. Plan and oversee the creation, scheduling and publication of content across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook and X (Twitter). Develop platform-specific approaches that reflect audience behaviour, current trends and campaign goals. Maintain accurate and consistent social media schedules and ensure content is published on time. Manage day-to-day audience interaction, including comments, direct messages, mentions and tags. Encourage meaningful audience participation and help build and maintain engaged online communities. Keep up to date with changes to social platforms, algorithms, features, formats and recommended practices. Convert podcasts, videos, long-form material and other existing assets into engaging social-first content. Identify opportunities for timely, reactive and trend-led content while protecting the brand''s tone and positioning. Work with designers, editors, producers and other team members to ensure social content is delivered to the required standard and within deadlines. 3. Content Creation, Scheduling & Publishing Develop engaging hooks, captions and calls-to-action that reflect each brand''s voice. Prepare and schedule content using Hootsuite or comparable social media management platforms. Apply appropriate hashtags, tagging, mentions, reposting and other distribution techniques. Coordinate the delivery of creative assets with designers, editors and producers. Check all content before publication to ensure it is accurate, appropriately formatted, on-brand and suited to the relevant platform. 4. Social Media Performance & Optimisation Monitor engagement, reach, retention and other relevant social media indicators on an ongoing basis. Prepare regular performance reports covering content and audience engagement. Highlight successful content, testing outcomes and areas where performance is below expectations. Use performance information to recommend changes and improve future content. Monitor measures such as follower growth, video views, profile visits and engagement rates. Evaluate which formats, subjects, posting times and approaches generate the strongest audience response. Provide regular insights and recommendations to improve the overall content and social media strategy. 5. Trends, Social Listening & Community Engagement Monitor emerging social formats, viral content, memes, creators and relevant online conversations. Look for opportunities to adapt existing material to current formats and trends. Develop appropriate trend-led content for areas such as crypto, entrepreneurship and culture. Monitor social communities and respond promptly and appropriately to questions, comments, requests and other interactions. Identify potential reputation or sentiment issues and escalate matters where appropriate. 6. Collaboration & Creative Coordination Collaborate closely with producers, designers, editors, the producer and project manager. Participate in regular team meetings to review production priorities, feedback and strategic changes. Provide creative input and direction to ensure content consistently reflects the required brand voice and objectives. 7. Content Assets & Workflow Keep caption libraries, visual assets, social media calendars and content trackers well organised. Ensure podcast and video content published through RSS, YouTube and Spotify follows appropriate optimisation and publishing practices. Manage multiple accounts and maintain an efficient workflow across a high-volume content pipeline. KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES Audience Development - Growth in followers, impressions and overall reach. Engagement - Improvement in likes, comments, shares, saves and meaningful audience interaction. Social Media Consistency - Reliable, timely and relevant activity across all assigned platforms. Content Effectiveness - Production of strong, engaging and brand-aligned content. Delivery - Content and campaigns completed accurately and within agreed deadlines. Community Management - Prompt, professional and appropriate handling of audience interactions. Client Experience - Strong communication, feedback and confidence in the content and social media approach. CANDIDATE PROFILE Essential Skills & Experience At least 3 years'' experience in social media management, content strategy, digital marketing or a closely related area. Substantial practical experience managing social media accounts for brands, businesses or creators. Experience creating and implementing social media strategies and maintaining content calendars. Ability to manage the complete social media process, from planning and content development through scheduling, publishing, community engagement, monitoring and reporting. Strong working knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter) and YouTube. A strong creative eye and the ability to recognise content, stories, quotes and clips with audience potential. Excellent writing skills with an understanding of how to create culturally relevant and engaging content. Experience using Hootsuite or similar social media management and publishing tools. Proven ability to handle multiple accounts, calendars and a busy content pipeline. Comfortable working with analytics, performance reports and data-led recommendations. Working knowledge of Google Analytics, social SEO and basic paid media principles. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE Experience managing personal brands or working with content creators. Experience or training in marketing, content production, design or branding. Ability to adapt writing style and tone for different brands and audiences. Interest or experience in AI, cryptocurrency, entrepreneurship and\/or business culture. Exposure to social listening, community management, influencer or creator partnerships, or paid social campaigns. JOB DETAILS Location: In Office - Cape Town Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: R30 000 CTC to R35 000 CTC per month The ideal candidate will bring more than content execution to the role.
