POSITION INFO:
Join a well-established organisation within the construction sector, based in Modderfontein / Greenstone. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, project-based environment where costing accuracy and financial insight directly impact business success.

The position offers a dual focus across ABC costing and financial accounting, providing exposure to both operational and reporting elements of the finance function. You will work closely with project teams and finance leadership, contributing to improved cost control, profitability, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain activity-based costing (ABC) models
Analyse project costs and provide insights to improve cost efficiency
Support financial accounting processes, including journals and reconciliations
Assist with month-end close and reporting
Work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate cost allocation
Maintain and improve costing systems and financial data integrity

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant within the construction or similar industry
- Strong background in ABC costing and financial accounting
- Experience working in a project-based environment
Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (non-negotiable)
- Experience with Syspro or similar ERP systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with large datasets and translate into actionable insights
Non-negotiables:
- Solid understanding of costing methodologies
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
