SUMMARY:
A respected collection of luxury safari lodges and camps is seeking an experienced COUNTRY GENERAL MANAGER to lead its Uganda business.
POSITION INFO:
This is a senior leadership role for someone who has run multi-site lodge or camp operations before and is comfortable operating within a matrix structure, balancing group strategy with the realities of running a country business on the ground. Core Criteria: Proven experience leading safari camps, lodges, or integrated tourism businesses across multiple sites Minimum 10 years' experience within East Africa highly advantageous Strong operational and commercial management background Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Tourism, Finance, or related field MBA or postgraduate qualification an advantage Proven ability to drive organisational change and operational excellence Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and CAPEX oversight Solid people leadership skills, with experience building capability and managing HR matters Comfortable engaging with government bodies, conservation authorities, and industry stakeholders Preference for candidates who are East African residents Core Responsibilities: Provide overall leadership across all Uganda operations, including camps, lodges, DMC, and support services Execute group strategy and translate it into operational plans for the country Oversee financial performance, budgets, and commercial delivery Drive service standards and guest experience across all properties Lead and develop the local team, supporting talent and succession planning Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company governance Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, communities, and conservation bodies Oversee CSR and sustainability initiatives, embedding responsible tourism principles Report regularly to the Head of Operations and represent the business at industry forums On Offer: Market related salary, negotiable depending on experience Live-out position, no accommodation provided Immediate start Based in Entebbe, Uganda
