JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Senior Country Sales Leader to join our client in their South African division. Based in Johannesburg, you will be reporting directly to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will require a minimum of 20 years of proven technical sales experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will:
  • Guarantee the achievement of sales performance goals of the business unit on the national market, through the implementation of the short and long-term customer business development strategies defined by HQ Sector and Regional Sales markets;
  • Coordinate the national sales organisation;
  • Ensure the identification of business opportunities;
  • Develop and maintain the company image;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential key customers and in-depth and updated knowledge of markets and competitive environment compliance with the guidelines received by the HQ Sales Team and the Country Manager.

Key responsibilities:
  • Own, develop and lead the formulation and implementation of the sales strategy and budget for the country, measure and monitor performance against the short and medium business plans and direct corrective action where appropriate to achieve optimal revenue performance and market share growth;
  • As a member of the country’s management team, the appointed individual needs to contribute to the formulation, implementation and reporting of the company’s sales strategies and plans with a specific focus on revenues and margins;
  • Business strategies and/ or plans needs to be transferred into sales priorities and measured sales performance communicated;
  • Monitor overall sales performance against strategic objectives by regular sales management reviews to ensure that objectives are fulfilled, and required corrective action is taken in an efficient and timely manner;
  • Maintain an extensive network of internal and external contacts to ensure that the division is optimally placed in its understanding of business, economic, political, and commercial challenges, and opportunities;
  • Lead all relationship-building initiatives with OEM’s, Distributors, Regulatory bodies and Key Accounts, including playing the lead role in negotiations with respect to pricing & procurement control;
  • Educate and keep our client up to date on Sales and business trends that affect the company;
  • Coach, support, mentor, and challenge subordinates in the application of effective sales practices, provide advice and guidance on complex sales issues to minimise risk and ensure performance;
  • Provide the team with an empowering view of our client's mission, vision, values, and key strategic objectives so that these stakeholders are fully aware of the current as well as future opportunities and challenges;
  • Determine the National Pricing Schedules for sales teams to be applied during the bid and/ or project proposals and the generating of day-to-day quotes;
  • Develop and maintain revenue and stock procurement forecasts;
  • Collate detail on new sales opportunities (pipeline, pending and actual new business) and present the progress and successes of performance against the business objectives and targets;
  • Competitive benchmarking and market share reporting;
  • Collaborate with the clients' International head office for awareness of new products developed and global best practices to implement in the local markets with success;
  • Establish ongoing productive and professional relationships with relevant personnel in key customer accounts and provide continuous, accurate and consistent feedback to prospective customers;
  • Ensure an in-depth understanding of the business unit strategy, growth plan, value drivers (revenue and profit trends), and risks;
  • Play a consultative role in the review and development of functional plans and budgets to ensure that plans are realistic and stretching but capitalise upon commercial and/ or operational opportunities;
  • Lead sales team to make a professional assessment and present appropriate recommendations to the MD and Operations management team;
  • Provide regular performance reports to the MD and participate with the MD and operations management team in business reviews;
  • On an ongoing basis, examine current sales processes to identify and implement potential sales improvements that will positively impact business development, sales, service, profitability and cost performance for our client as a whole.
