POSITION INFO:
To apply strong analytical and cybersecurity skills to support the Cyber Security team in safeguarding the organisation’s digital assets, systems, and data. The Cybersecurity Developer will ensure ongoing resilience against evolving cyber threats and vulnerabilities by developing, automating, and enhancing security solutions—ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability across all systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical security solutions to detect, mitigate, and respond to threats.
- Assist with security incident response, including proactive detection, root cause analysis, and resolution.
- Design and develop automation scripts and tools to improve security posture and streamline response activities.
- Work closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments.
- Continuously monitor threat intelligence sources and integrate findings into security operations.
- Assist in assessing and securing Microsoft Active Directory, SharePoint, SQL, and both Windows and Linux/Red Hat environments.
- Collaborate in agile teams and actively contribute to high-performance DevOps models.
- Maintain and update documentation on security architectures, processes, and standards.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- 4+ years in Information Security or Cybersecurity
- 1–2 years in Security Incident Response or Cyber Threat Detection/Mitigation
- Experience with:
- Microsoft Active Directory, SQL, and SharePoint
- Windows and Linux/Red Hat OS
- Agile and DevOps environments
- Scripting: Python, PowerShell, Bash
- Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform
- Security automation tools and CI/CD pipelines
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity architecture, tools, and controls
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Cyber Threat Intelligence
- Cyber Incident Response
- Network protocols, cloud security, and system architecture
- Familiarity with:
- Secure coding practices
- Regulatory standards and compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, POPIA, GDPR)
Qualifications
- Minimum: Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
- Preferred:
- BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- AWS Solutions Architect certification (associate or higher)
- Additional certifications (ideal):
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
- CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional)
- OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional)
- CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
