POSITION INFO:

Our client is looking for a Data Architect to help design, build, and scale modern data ecosystems that enable business intelligence, AI/ML, and enterprise-wide decision-making. This is a great opportunity to work on high-impact initiatives across both cloud and on-premise environments.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for defining and implementing data architecture best practices—ensuring data is secure, accessible, and aligned to the organisation’s strategic goals. You’ll collaborate with engineering, analytics, and governance teams to drive robust, future-ready data solutions.

What you’ll do:

• Design and implement scalable enterprise data architecture
• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Define integration strategies for ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and real-time data flow
• Establish data governance practices including lineage, cataloguing, and metadata
• Ensure security, compliance, and performance across data platforms
• Recommend and implement cloud-native and on-premise data solutions
• Support cross-functional teams with accessible, quality data

Your expertise:

• 5+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or data modeling
• Strong background in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Hands-on experience with AWS services – S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena
• Solid experience with ETL/ELT, APIs, and real-time data processing (Kafka, Kinesis)
• Deep understanding of RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK)
• Familiarity with data cataloguing, metadata management, and lineage tracking
• Strong grasp of data security, IAM, and regulatory compliance (POPIA, GDPR)
