Data Engineering Operations Manager

SUMMARY:
Job Purpose:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineering Operation to lead and manage our data engineering operation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data engineering, along with excellent leadership and project management skills. The role requires the ability to streamline processes, ensure data quality, and drive continuous improvement in our data pipelines and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead/mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance, feedback, and fostering a collaborative & innovative environment
Project Management: Manage end-to-end data engineering projects, including requirements gathering, planning, execution and delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
Data Pipeline Management: Oversee the design, development and maintenance of scalable and efficient data pipelines ensuring data is collected, processed and integrated from various sources to support analytics and reporting needs
Data Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain data quality checks, validation processes, and data cleansing procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data
Infrastructure Management: Collaborate with the infrastructure team to optimize and scale the data engineering environment ensuring high availability and performance of data processing and storage systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide data solutions that meet their needs
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation within data engineering operations, striving for continuous improvement.
Resource Planning: Allocate resources effectively and efficiently to meet project deadlines and operational needs.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data engineering processes, best practices/standards
Qualifications:
Bachelors or master’s degree in computer science, data science or a related field
At least 5 years of experience In Data Engineering or related field, with 3 years in a leadership role
Experience with data warehousing, data modelling, and ETL processes
Experience with cloud-based data solutions such as AWS, Azure or GCP
Experience with programming languages such as Python
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership and management skills
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Solid understanding of machine learning work flows
