The company:
The business has been going for nearly 20 years and have over 1,000 staff. They operate across a very specific area of online sales and are focused on travel. They have offices in London and Scotland, and are continuing to grow, even with the industry affected by Covid.
Covid has allowed the company to take a deeper look at how the teams'' operate and they have realised that every team does things differently with data, and that ultimately they are not aligned. They are therefore at the beginning of their journey in looking to fix both internal systems and processes. With the engineering side of the business growing particularly quickly, they need to catch up on the product side.
The role:
You will be a Product Manager, with a very strong background in "Data", namely Data Warehouse and ETL processes. You will definitely have an appreciation of data management techniques, as well as ideally knowledge in data governance and some hands-on skills (such as SQL querying). On top of this, as this is a Product Manager role, you will need to have the core PM knowledge and be comfortable in an "outward facing" capacity - speaking to lots of stakeholders and having the stakeholder management skills.
The company definitely need people who have a background in delivering results. You should be passionate about launching new features and delivering improvements, as well as challenging yourself and the team to develop and grow.
This person can focus on anything from Data Warehousing and BI Solutions, to Machine Learning and Data Science. The key takeaway from this is, you must be comfortable with data and be able to own that, as your product.
The person and skills required:
** 2+ years in a Product Manager/Owner capacity
** Ideally a background in Data Warehouse/ETL Development (as a Developer/Data Engineer, for example)
** Ownership over data management strategy (nice to have)
** Understanding of Schema design (ETL) and data pipelining (nice to have)
** Full product lifecycle experience
** Experience driving product initiatives to successful completion, resulting in business impact
** Strong stakeholder management skills
** Experience making hard, data-driven decisions (incl. A/B testing, User Testing, Analytics, Market Research, Competitor Analysis, Defining Metrics and KPIs)
