Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent qualification (NQF 7) preferable
• 5 - 8 years' experience in database administration and design

• To provide functional support to our client's ERP system users on assigned modules with focus on testing, business analysis, system setup and configuration
• To take responsibility for driving ERP business analysis initiatives from initiation to implementation on projects of low/medium risk with a cycle of up to 18 months
• To facilitate workshops independently and consult with business owners and stakeholders in respect of problem definition and the identification of business requirements
• To review business processes and procedures, analyse business needs and associated data, identify and assess possible solutions, and define the associated requirements
• To elaborate the scope and feasibility of solutions, and develop the supporting business case
• To manage change requirements and supporting specifications, provide the functional specification and manage acceptance testing
• To investigate problem and propose solutions by interacting with users, developers, and other stakeholders
• To configure complex business processes and tasks (where appropriate) within a system for improvement
• To identify and register risks within their ERP functional streams
• To develop system training manuals, training plans and present training courses in support of new implementation
• To stay abreast of changes to analytical tools and methodologies, and advice the Business Analyst Competency Centre to adhere to new practices
• Design and maintain robust data models, including tables for users (auth tokens), integrations (flows/status), and logs (timestamps/errors), supporting JSONB for flexible API payloads
• Implement CRUD operations via indexed queries and enable real-time updates using LISTEN/NOTIFY
• Develop integration hooks such as triggers for audit logging and stored procedures for complex joins (e.g., integration patterns analysis)
• Collaborate with backend teams to expose API endpoints (e.g., /api/integrations) using frameworks like Spring Boot or Node.js/Express
• Ensure performance targets (<100ms query latency) and support high throughput (1,000 TPS) with connection pooling
• Apply advanced security measures, including row-level security (RLS), TLS encryption, and OAuth/JWT validation at the application layer
• Implement scalability strategies such as horizontal sharding and read replicas for analytics
• Ensure compliance with GDPR and POPIA, including immutable audit logs and secure data handling
• Configure and manage PostgreSQL environments (version 16+), leveraging extensions like PostGIS or TimescaleDB where applicable
• Support managed services (AWS RDS or Azure Database for PostgreSQL) for automated backups and scaling
• Provide full-text search and JSON support for API responses
• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives to ensure data availability and integrity
