JOB SUMMARY:
Databases Team Lead opportunity available at a universally known automotive/ IT company based in Randburg. This hybrid working role will include leading a team and influencing the technology strategy by aligning technical expertise and business needs to enhance IT service delivery.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications:

matric
National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology.
Microsoft SQL Server certification.
MCDBA and / or MCTS certification.

Requirements:

5 years’ experience in SQL as a Database Administrator, including server architecture and administration.
Production implementation experience desired.
In depth knowledge of database security and associated best practice.
Highly skilled in documentation defining processes.
Experience in SQL server capacity management, load balancing, clustering and other associated technologies.
Work extended hours.
Willing to travel.
Work in a team environment that is fast-paced and demanding.
Be self-directed with excellent initiative and organizational skills.
Handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
Work well under pressure with the ability to deliver on time.

Job & Company Description:

Provide operational application database services to the organization.
Design and optimize methods to store, analyze, utilize, and organize data associated with the applications portfolio.
Own, track and resolve database related incidents and requests.
Follow the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Fulfil requests and resolves incidents within SLA’s.
Review service-related reports (database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLA’s.
Respond and investigate database related troubles and escalations while working with others within the organization to come up with solutions to recurring problems.
Create and regularly update a backup and restore procedure and policy.
Maintain a record of system backups, frequencies and backup times.
Perform regular tests of the ability to restore backed up data.
Monitor the backup hardware and software for correct operation.
Manage procurement of media to implement the backup procedure and policy.
Make sure backups conform to best practice retention cycles.
Ensure tapes are stored off-site at Metrofile.
Make sure all critical Business systems are replicated at DR.
Ensure recovery systems are replicated at DR, including Infrastructure, DB replication and Software
Manage Infrastructure DR Plan.
DR Datacenter availability and stability management.
Manage DR connectivity.
DR capacity management.
