JOB SUMMARY:
A 5-star Hotel Group that offers world-class services is looking for a Deputy General Camp Manager for their exclusive lodge in Addo.

The Deputy General Camp Manager's role is to enhance the operational efficiency and service quality of the Camp by, in conjunction with the General Manager, providing the service which creates the platform whereby teams can excel and meet the underlying objectives within their departments. You will excel in this role if you are an efficient, solutions-driven individual who enjoys a constantly changing environment. With a passion for exceptional service whilst maintaining a high degree of operational delivery and people management.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for managing the full operations, service, logistics and activities of the Camp Team, under the guidance of the General Manager
  • Guest Experience and Hosting of all visitors to the camp according to the camp ethos of managing a balance between privacy/space and a warm down-to-earth hosting by management. Ensuring guests receive the personal attention and specific special requests are taken care of within reason.
  • Security and safety of all guests, staff and assets of the camp is a priority. This includes ensuring systems for guests to be escorted safely around the camp at night are implemented and followed.
  • Controls, orders, and stock keeping of all consumables, equipment, fuel and linen with the use of appropriate systems to ensure there is no opportunity for wastage.
  • Environmental responsibility for the operations of the camp in line with our ethos, advertising, and conservancy guidelines. This includes responsible firewood usage/collection, eco-friendly disposal of waste and respect for the surrounding wildlife, plants, and greater ecosystem.
  • Assist with Housekeeping and laundry oversight, including checks and training to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, service, and attention to detail.
  • Ensure excellent maintenance of all camp assets and equipment including tents, furniture, plumbing, electrics, and vehicles
  • Assist with the camp improvements and beautification through suggestion and implementation of appropriate landscaping, additional decor and other developments within budget and guidance of management, including the General Manager’s input.
  • Communication and relationship management (as required) with conservancy representatives, community representatives and local government officials.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all F&B processes and procedures with a strong knowledge of food, wine & spirits.
  • Assist all Heads of Departments in ensuring that guest spaces and facilities are impeccably maintained and fully functional.

Experience and skills:
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years Deputy Camp / Lodge Management experience within a 5* Camp / Lodge Property
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office, Gmail and the internet.
  • Experience with Protel PMS advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Fully vaccinated.
