POSITION INFO:

Our client, a financial services company with offices in Stellenbosch and Sandton h is seeking to employ COBOL Developers, to be responsible for the writing and coding of individual programs for Back-End applications according to specifications. The ideal candidate should have matric with a relevant IT qualification and a minimum of 3+ years solid and recent COBOL programming experience.

Purpose of the role

Responsible for the task and project design and development of Bank’s Core Banking application and related solutions and implementations, according to specifications.

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational)
• A relevant IT tertiary qualification (diploma / degree) would be ideal
• 3-5 years’ proven experience in COBOL development within an on-line and / or batch environment
• Experience in the following development languages:

• COBOL
• SQL
• JCL (Job Control Language) or equivalent
• Unix

• Knowledge of:

• IT systems development processes
• Application development
• Standards and governance
• Testing practices
• Banking systems environment

• Knowledge of the following would be ideal:

• System architecture (technical design and implementation processes)

• Solid understanding of:

• Banking business model
• Best practices for Quality Assurance (QA)
