To perform diagnostics, servicing, repair and preventative maintenance on the racecourse fleet, track maintenance equipment and related mechanical infrastructure, ensuring that all vehicles and machinery operate safely, efficiently and reliably

POSITION INFO:
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Fleet and Equipment Maintenance and Repairs Preventative Maintenance and Equipment Readiness Mechanical Diagnostics and Technical Support Workshop Management and OHS Compliance Administration, inventory and Reporting KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Fleet and Equipment Maintenance and Repairs Diagnoses, services and repairs diesel-powered vehicles and machinery used in racing operations. Maintains and repairs equipment including Tractors, Graders, Trucks, Grounds Maintenance Equipment and Track preparation machinery. Services and maintains starting gate mechanisms to ensure operational reliability Conducts mechanical repairs according to manufacturer specifications and mechanical standards. Performs major and minor servicing of engines, hydraulic systems and drive components Conducts onsite repairs during operational breakdowns where required Ensures all repairs restore equipment to safe and operational conditions Tests equipment after repairs to confirm functionality Supports other racecourses with seasonal servicing or repairs where required Preventative Maintenance and Equipment Readiness Develops and implements preventative maintenance schedules for racecourse equipment Conducts routine inspections of fleet and machinery Monitors equipment condition to detect early signs of mechanical failure Identifies and recommends preventative repairs to minimise downtime Ensures equipment readiness for race days and operational events Monitors servicing intervals and maintenance schedules Ensures maintenance activities support continuous racecourse operation Mechanical Diagnostics and Technical Support Conducts fault finding and diagnostics on diesel engines and mechanical systems Analyses mechanical faults and determines appropriate repair solutions Inspects equipment components for wear or damage Conducts mechanical testing including Brake systems, Hydraulic systems, Engine performance Provides technical advice to management on repair or replacement decision Escalates complex mechanical issues to external specialists when required Supports mechanical improvements to enhance equipment performance Workshop Management and OHS Compliance Maintains a clean, organised and safe workshop environment Ensures compliance with OHS regulation Implements safe work practices when handling machinery and tools Maintains proper storage and maintenance of workshop equipment Ensures safe disposal of mechanical waste materials Supports safety protocols during mechanical repairs and testing Supervises assistant mechanics and workshop support staff where required Administration, Inventory and Reporting Maintains accurate records of fleet servicing and repairs Completes and submits maintenance job cards and service reports Tracks spare parts usage and inventory levels Compiles lists of spare parts required for repair Monitors stock levels of Mechanical parts, Lubricants, Fuel, Workshop supplies Maintains technical documentation and service histories for equipment Provides regular maintenance reports to management Minimum Qualification and Education Requirements: N3 National Certificate (NQF Level 4) Diesel Mechanic \/ Mechanical Trade \/ Trade Test 5 years' experience as a Diesel Mechanic \/ Mechanical Artisan Experience repairing and servicing: Tractors, Trucks, Graders, Agricultural \/ grounds maintenance equipment Experience with diesel engines and mechanical systems Experience working in workshops or field repairs Valid Driver's Licence (Code 10 \/ 14) Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Diesel engine mechanics Fleet maintenance and servicing Mechanical diagnostics and troubleshooting Hydraulic systems Brake systems Agricultural or grounds maintenance equipment Generator maintenance Vehicle electrical systems Preventative maintenance planning Workshop management practices Mechanical safety procedure OHS requirements Preventative maintenance practices Basic stock and inventory control Attention to detail Time management Flexible availability \/ ability to work weekends, race days and after-hours if required Preferred \/ Advantageous Requirements : Professional Driving Permit (PDP) will be advantageous 4Racing Values: Good corporate citizenship Valuing health, safety and the environment Integrity and openness Accountability and responsibility Promoting excellence APPLICATIONS: If you are interested in applying for this position and have the necessary qualification, experience, knowledge, and skills, please forward your CV including credentials to Please note that applications are strictly submitted online.
