This hands-on role involves the full maintenance, repair and servicing of farm and forestry vehicles, equipment and machinery. The successful candidate will also perform health and safety inspections and general workshop duties in a rural farming \/ forestry environment. This will be a live in position with housing etc included. This position is available for someone seeking long term employment. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Repair, service and maintain farm vehicles and equipment (including Bell loggers, tractors, bulldozers and bakkies) Repair and service chainsaws (Husqvarna & Stihl) Repair and service water pumps used for firefighting Conduct routine maintenance, checks and health & safety inspections on all vehicles and machinery Perform general workshop duties and maintain workshop premises Complete workshop administration including job cards and service registers Control workshop store stock and issue petrol, oils and diesel Assist with on-farm breakdowns and emergency call-outs Carry out hydraulic pipe repairs and related work Perform grinding, welding and other workshop fabrication tasks as required Standby every second weekend and overtime \/ emergency breakdowns as operationally required Working hours: 06h30 - 16h00 Monday to Friday (plus standby and overtime) EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic \/ Mechanical \/ Electrical \/ Auto-Electrical - essential (required for health & safety inspection duties) Min 3 years' proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic in a farm workshop \/ forestry \/ agricultural environment Practical experience on farm vehicles, tractors, loggers, bulldozers and bakkies Experience with chainsaw repairs and servicing (Husqvarna \/ Stihl) Experience with water pump servicing and repairs (firefighting pumps) Hydraulic systems knowledge and pipe repairs Basic workshop administration, job cards and stock control skills Grinding and welding skills Fire-fighting experience in a forestry or farm environment Code 14 (PDP) licence advantageous Zulu and English-speaking ability required Honest, dedicated, hard-working and loyal with a clear criminal record Willing to learn and work as part of a team Traceable & contactable references Local residency or willing to relocate to the Greytown \/ Midland's area Submit CV (Word \/ PDF) to , Ref # (TRG 2534) SKILLS REQUIRED: Diesel mechanical diagnostics, repair and servicing Auto-electrical and electrical fault-finding Hydraulic systems and pipe work Chainsaw and small-engine repairs Welding and fabrication Workshop administration and stock control Health & safety inspections on vehicles and machinery Time management and ability to work independently Problem-solving under pressure (breakdowns and emergencies) #TheRecruitmentGuy #FarmWorkshopDieselMechanic #Greytown #KwaZuluNatal #Midlands #FarmWorkshop #Forestry #DieselMechanic #TradeTested #AutoElectrical #Mechanical #Maintenance #Repairs #Servicing #AgricultureJobs APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Only applications from suitably experienced candidates who meet the requirements of this vacancy will be considered.
