SUMMARY:
Diesel Mechanic - Addo (PE)

Our client based just outside of Addo Elephant Park is on a recruitment drive for a Diesel Mechanic for their corporate division.

Purpose of the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on yellow metals, earth-moving machines, and trucks.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and conduct repairs to manufacturer standards.
• Overhaul engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other critical components.
• Inspect equipment thoroughly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
• Complete breakdown call-outs and field repairs when required.

• Ensure all repairs comply with OEM specifications, company standards, and safety regulations.
• Conduct pre- and post-maintenance testing to verify reliability and performance.
• Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and reports.
• Use diagnostic equipment, tools, and systems to troubleshoot issues efficiently.
• Ensure proper use, care, and calibration of workshop tools and machinery.

• Assist with maintaining workshop cleanliness, safety protocols, and tool control.
• Liaise with supervisors regarding job priorities, required parts, and equipment downtime.
• Provide guidance to assistants or apprentices as needed.
• Engage in continuous improvement of maintenance processes and fleet uptime.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal or equivalent).
• 3–5 years’ experience working on yellow metal / earth-moving equipment and heavy-duty trucks.
• Strong diagnostic skills (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic).
• Valid driver’s license (Code 14 advantageous).
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and within tight operational timelines.
• Willingness to work overtime, shifts, standby, and attend breakdowns off-site when needed.
