SUMMARY:
Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for logistics and distribution? This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established organisation as a Distribution Supervisor, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery of goods to both local and export markets.
POSITION INFO:
In this pivotal role, you will oversee distribution workflows, optimise fleet utilisation, manage staff performance, and ensure customer satisfaction — all while driving cost efficiency and operational accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee POD & route administration, ensuring accurate documentation and route planning readiness.
- Drive budget and cost efficiency, optimising truck capacity and controlling fuel consumption.
- Manage fleet maintenance & compliance, ensuring that servicing, licensing, and cleanliness standards are met.
- Ensure waybill accuracy and proper courier system administration.
- Act as managerial backup, maintaining service levels in the Distribution Manager’s absence.
- Guarantee OTIF delivery, prompt back order resolution, and the smooth loading of fleet and FGDS for branches and agents.
- Oversee stock accuracy & control, ensuring that correct quantities and formal distribution processes are followed.
- Lead stock taking & inventory management, including audits and pre-stocktake activities.
- Manage and develop staff, driving capability, performance, and accountability.
- Oversee customer collections and third-party equipment control (e.g., CHEP and Smartload).
- Prepare and submit accurate reporting, including daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
Qualifications & Experience:- ð Education:
- Matric required
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Management (advantageous)
- ð¼ Experience:
- 3–6 years’ experience in a manufacturing or logistics/distribution environment
- Exposure to a global multinational environment preferred
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of warehouse, dispatch, transport, and route planning systems
- Proficient in compiling and analysing operational reports
- Deep understanding of fleet compliance, POD administration, and third-party logistics
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Assertive, decisive, and capable of leading a team under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, accountable leader with a continuous improvement mindset
