Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (E&I) - frequent local and international travel to mine sites, Kyalami

SUMMARY:
A bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation.E & I Engineer will be the design, contract management and technical service relating to Kilns and Electrowinning Cells.

A minimum of 1 - 5 years of related work experience is preferable (any industry).

Recent graduates that are hungry for knowledge - with the right aptitude and drive to get up to speed rapidly will also be considered.
Will be required to be self‐motivated / a self‐starter as this role is not discreetly overseen.

Flexibility to frequent local and international travel to mine sites that utilize client’s equipment.
Amenable to learning and understanding the metallurgical unit process of Gold Leaching, Adsorption and Elution. This Metallurgical training and experience will be provided whist in the employ of the company. This role will require the successful candidate to become technically proficient in Carbon Regeneration Kiln control systems and Electrowinning rectifiers.

Job description / core competencies:

The E & I Engineer will form part of the Engineering Department and report to the Production Manager.

The primary function of the E & I Engineer will be the design, contract management and technical service relating to Kilns and Electrowinning Cells.

The E & I Engineer will be expected to have a good understanding of the design, manufacture, fault finding and repair of control panels (including PLC programming) that would be associated with Carbon Regeneration Kilns or related thermal technologies. An understanding of thyristor controllers and rectifiers would be an advantage.

A key role associated with this position will be developing, improving and documenting electrical and control technology associated with the Carbon Regeneration Kilns and Electrowinning Cells.

To assist in the understanding and provision of technical support of the Carbon Regeneration Kilns and Electrowinning Cells, the successful applicant will have a valid passport and be prepared to undertake frequent local and international travel to mine sites that utilize the client’s equipment.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

A formal tertiary qualification is required ‐ a bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Diploma will be considered.
The preferred qualification would be that of Electrical / Instrumentation Engineer.
This role will require the successful candidate to become technically proficient in Carbon Regeneration Kiln control systems and Electrowinning rectifiers.
The candidate will have to be amenable to learning and understanding the metallurgical unit process of Gold Leaching, Adsorption and Elution. This Metallurgical training and experience will be provided whist in the employ of the company.
The candidate must be prepared to develop an understanding of the mechanical design and operation of the equipment, understanding the principal interfaces between the electrical controls and the mechanical operation sufficient to be able to fault find mechanical and operational problems.
A minimum of 1 - 2 years of related work experience is preferable.
An advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.
The successful candidate must have good interpersonal skills as interacting, establishing and maintaining very good client relations is an essential component and key result area of this position.
Will be required to be self‐motivated / a self‐starter as this role is not discreetly overseen.
The successful candidate must be prepared to work as part of a team and to be prepared to share in the development of other employees by sharing knowledge acquired.
Will be required to possess good time management skills as the meeting of client defined deadlines is an imperative key result area.
