The Client’s Power BU focusses on supporting energy projects and offering solutions to the challenges of energy transition in Africa.

As part of the Client’s group of companies, the client Power BU specializes in several areas of engineering including thermal and hydraulic engineering, electricity transmission and distribution networks, and solar and wind power. These support the rapid development of these energies throughout Africa.

This Sector is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of an Electrical Construction Supervisor.

The below listed responsibilities and requirements will be assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previously two positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety: Provide active and demonstrable support to the HSE Officers to enforce the HSE Plan on site
  • Environmental: Guide and support the contractors to ensure compliance with the project EMPr’s
  • Electrical Construction Management: Ensure BOP contractors comply with its construction contracts
  • Document Management: Assist the Document Controller with site-generated project documentation
  • Commercial: Assist Construction Site Manager and Commercial team with supporting document compilation for Project milestone payment claims.
  • Interfacing with stakeholders: Proactive interaction with internal and external stakeholders during the construction of all electrical works (i.e. landowner(s), local communities, Turbine Supply, BOP (electrical) Contractor, Environmental Control Officer, Eskom, Owner's engineer and adjacent wind project)
  • Reporting: Support internal team with reporting and preparation of external reporting to the Client
  • Quality: Support the Quality Manager during the quality process
  • Design and Engineering Support: Support Owner’s Engineer with electrical engineering designs on site and review Technical Acceptance procedures from the contractors

Planning: Support the project team with Cold and Hot Commissioning, Grid Connection, Grid Code Testing, and COD

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in an Engineering or Construction field (BSc, BTech or equivalent as a minimum)

Experience:

Minimum 10 years work experience as electrical site engineer or electrical construction supervisor, with at least 4 years’ experience on renewable projects

Responsibilities:

The Electrical Construction Supervisor for the Koruson 1 Cluster Wind Farms will be responsible for the successful construction of the electrical reticulation network, substation and Eskom switching station on the project. The Electrical Construction Supervisor will be part of the Koruson 1 Site team and will manage the electrical scope of the Balance Plofant Contractor and liaise with the Owner’s Engineer on electrical design related matters and the client Power on company related matters.

Exposure and knowledge to multiple project execution will be an added advantage

Person Requirement:

Core Requirements:

  • An excellent working knowledge of MS Office
  • Willingness to be site-based in Northern Cape for the full duration of the project
  • General technical acumen
  • Speaks and writes English fluently
  • Good knowledge of another language is an advantage
  • In possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Medically fit
  • General Requirements

  • Above average report writing skill, with good spelling and grammar acumen
  • High social and intercultural competence
  • Good communication skills – reliable and trustworthy
