SUMMARY:
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Design and Engineering

Design and develop electrical systems for buildings, plants, and infrastructure projects (lighting, power distribution, generators, UPS systems, renewable energy, etc.).
Prepare and review electrical layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams.
Conduct load calculations, cable sizing, and short-circuit studies using relevant software.
Specify materials, components, and electrical equipment in line with industry standards.
Ensure designs comply with SANS, IEC, and Eskom regulations.

Project Management

Manage and coordinate electrical engineering projects from concept to commissioning.
Prepare project documentation including BOQs, technical reports, and tender documentation.
Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
Monitor project progress, costs, and timelines to ensure delivery within scope and budget.

Quality and Compliance

Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to design and safety standards.
Perform risk assessments and ensure compliance with OHSA and other statutory requirements.
Stay updated with new electrical technologies, energy efficiency trends, and sustainable practices.

Technical Support

Provide technical advice and support to junior engineers, technicians, and project teams.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues.
Prepare operation and maintenance documentation for handover.

POSITION INFO:
ð Qualifications and Experience
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng / BSc Eng / BTech).
ECSA Candidate Engineer / Pr.Eng / Pr.Tech.Eng registration or eligibility preferred.

Experience

Minimum 3–5 years relevant experience in electrical design and project management within an engineering or consulting environment.
Experience with commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit (Electrical), ETAP, or Dialux.
Strong knowledge of SANS and NRS standards, energy efficiency, and renewable systems (solar PV advantageous).
