Electrical Engineer

SUMMARY:
To manage the electrical maintenance function within the plant in order to ensure maximum availability and efficiency of the paper machines.

POSITION INFO:

·         Participating in developing and executing the Maintenance and improvement strategy, to ensure equipment availability, reliability and efficiency, as well as continuous improvement.
·         Participate in daily production multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings to agree on work focus areas and to resolve plant problems as part of the team. Actively build relationships with production teams and encourage team members to do the same.
·         Monitor frequency of electrical equipment failures, breakdowns, accidents and overtime. Drive root cause analysis. Suggest changes to processes and equipment to prevent recurrence.
·         Accountable to identify, motivate and justify electrical capital expenditure projects for new machinery or upgrades of existing ones.
·         Oversee the development of electrical equipment and process specifications. Approve changes for the electrical design of the plant.
·         Chair daily meetings with team to plan, manage and delegate work.
·         Plan and procedure spares timeously and according to company procedures.
·         Provide planner with shutdown labour resource planning.
·         Manage subordinates and contractors in terms of safety, workload, discipline and quality of work.
·         Manage artisan standby roster and ensure personnel are available for standby.
·         Ensure all maintenance work is done and managed to achieve the maintenance objectives.
·         Perform inspections on work in progress and completed work to ensure quality of work.
·         Ensure plant modification is adhered to when requested to effect changes to plant machinery.
·         Conduct and participate in roots cause analysis sessions as and when required.
·         Ensure departmental housekeeping and all safety regulations are adhered to by department.
·         Ensure all office and JDE maintenance activities is manage accordingly.
·         Must be prepared to work overtime to meet requirements.
·         Manage statutory requirements as per OHSACT.
·         Accountable to ensure BBS observations are conducted according to mill objectives.



·         Must be a qualified technician or electrical with a Diploma, Higher Technician certificate or BSc in Electrical Power Engineering.
·         At least 10 years years of relevant industry experience and   process knowledge. Computer literate in basic MS-Office Suite
