Electrical Technician: Protection

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician, with strong protection experience, to support the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems within substations and power networks.

POSITION INFO:
Duties:

• Installation, testing, and commissioning of protection relays and control panels
• Secondary injection testing of protection schemes
• Fault finding, maintenance, and repairs on protection and control systems
• Interpretation of protection drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Assist with substation commissioning and outage work
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards
• Prepare test reports and commissioning documentation

• National Diploma or Trade Test in Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience as an Electrical Technician with protection exposure
• Hands-on experience with protection relays (e.g. Siemens, ABB, Schneider, and SEL)
• Knowledge of HV/MV substations and protection schemes
• Ability to work independently and within project teams
• Willingness to travel and work on-site when required

• Experience with IEC 61850
• Substation commissioning experience
• Valid driver’s license
