Electronic Design Engineer, Radar Hardware

POSITION INFO:
This role centres on real test equipment and a methodical process, tracing whether a problem is a bad connection, heat, interference, or unwanted noise. The team builds the hardware behind radar systems built to work reliably in everyday use. What makes this role genuinely rare is its scope. Full involvement across the hardware lifecycle, from early concept and circuit design through to mass production and shipping. This is an in-person role based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. Duties and responsibilities Designing and developing analog, digital, and RF circuitry. Simulation, component selection, schematic capture, and guiding PCB layout. Verifying circuit and system performance by planning real tests, running them on real equipment, and building scripts to capture and present the data clearly. Working as a core member of a local hardware team embedded in a larger, multidisciplinary, multi-region product development effort. Partnering with manufacturing teams to define production and test strategy, so designs translate cleanly into volume manufacturing. Debugging circuits and finished products using structured, methodical problem-solving. Documenting designs, decisions, and test results thoroughly enough that someone else could pick up where you left off. Taking part in peer reviews and design evaluations as a genuine part of maintaining engineering quality. Working inside an agile, self-organizing team, responding to design challenges as they come up. Input into how radar data gets presented to end users, beyond just the hardware that produces it. Involvement in evaluating new technologies as the team explores where radar can go next. Travel to international offices. Desired Experience & Qualification Qualifications A Bachelor''s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechatronic Engineering. Open to junior (0-2 years), mid-level (2+ years), and senior (5+ years) candidates, with depth of thinking valued at every level. An excellent academic average, given the technical depth this role requires, this is a genuine factor. What you''ll need A track record of developing circuits and products. Proficiency with electronic test equipment for verification and debugging. Strong professional communication, including documentation clear enough for distributed teams across multiple countries and time zones to work from. Sharp analytical and problem-solving instincts. A solid, practical grasp of everyday electronic design challenges. EMC, thermal effects, noise, signal integrity, parasitics. The ability to think at a system level and see how a design decision in one area creates consequences in another. What gives you an edge Understanding of radar fundamentals. Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools. Knowledge of RF design principles. Antennas, transmission lines, microstrip structures, filters. Familiarity with common interfaces and protocols (USB, BLE, Wi-Fi, UART, SPI, I²C, I²S). Experience developing consumer electronics products specifically. A basic grounding in signal processing.
