POSITION INFO:

Our client based in Kempton Park is looking for an experienced Employee Relations and Compliance Officer.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • HR, IR, Labour Law, Industrial Relation, Industrial psychology or any Employee Relations Qualification will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Industrial or Labour Relations.
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good communication and negotiating skills.
  • Presentation and coaching skills.
  • Good leadership, ethics, problem-solving, strategic thinking and cultural competency.
  • Team player, people’s person, task orientated with excellent administrative skills.
  • Â Be prepared to travel when required.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Handling of disciplinary issues and processes.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective policies and procedures so that labour disputes and grievances are minimized or eradicated.
  • Handles negotiations between employees, union members or reps and employer bodies.
  • Handling dispute resolution and managing the grievance process.
  • Interpret and ensures compliance with South African labour laws regarding conditions of employment
  • Establish and maintain good relationship with employees and management.
  • Encourage improved working conditions so that employees can be productive, safe and happy.
  • Makes recommendations for changes to the existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with new or proposed government regulations.
  • Encourage ongoing conversation between the employees and the employer in order to keep the work relationship healthy.
  • Liaise with departmental managers to determine skills deficiencies and future training needs for promotional and productivity purposes.
  • Ensure that the disciplinary processes are enforced when necessary.
  • Ensure that performance management and career development discussions are communicated to relevant parties.
  • Compile the ‘Early Warning System’ report quarterly and Co-ordinate training and coaching for the purposes of employee retention.
  • Conduct, analyse and address the concerns raised through the employee opinion surveys.
  • Participate in employment contract agreements.
  • Represents the company in legal hearings on labour issues, e.g. CCMA, Labour Department etc.
  • Assist with any other HR issues or activities.


Compliance responsibilities:

  • Draft, approve and provide legal advice in terms of the company’s Service Level Agreements.
  • Conduct audits, monitor and ensure maximum compliance on POPIA
  • Schedule employees on compulsory compliance training
  • Compliance Management System (CMS)
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and compliance.
  • Provide safety procedures and standards for safe working practices.
  • Assess illnesses or injuries in the workplace and the completion of relevant documents such as IOD forms.
  • Recommend ways to minimize and improve injuries in the workplace.
  • Advice management of all legal requirements.
