JOB SUMMARY:
GCC MHS Engineer

Our client is situated in the Limpopo Province - approximately 90km East of Polokwane and/or 65 Km West of Burgersfort

Job Purpose:
To lead the Engineering team in providing a totally integrated Engineering function to the Mine
operations, and processes to exceed current production targets and reduce costs to the company and to
ensure compliance of provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals Act, and its Regulations

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Tasks and responsibilities

Monitor Mine Engineering legal compliance of all Regulations, Acts, Procedures, Standards, Codes of practices, and instructions.
Advise management on corrective actions to ensure compliance.
Implement/maintain the Mine Safety Management System.
Conduct departments H & S Meetings.
Assist with the provision and guidance with training on all relevant Engineering procedures, COP’s, Standards, DMR guidelines, and regulations to management and employees.
Advise and consult with the Management team on all Health Safety and Environmental matters.
Assist with and conduct investigations and make recommendations to management on the prevention of similar accidents.
Conduct legal inspections and submit reports to management on deviations and good practices observed.
Assist with the compilation of risk assessments.
Consult with Management Team on all Engineering Health Safety and Environmental matters.
Accompany DMR Inspectors on visits.
Assist in DMR accident inquiries.
Follow up on engineering audit reports, action plans, and incident reports.
Attend monthly Health, Safety, and Environmental Meetings

Minimum Requirements

Sc /B.Eng: Electrical/Mechanical or National Diploma and government certificate of competency (GCC) (Mechanical/Electrical)
Code 08 driver’s license
Must be declared medically fit.
English proficiency
Computer literacy
At least 10 years experience in a production engineering environment, of which at least 8 years experience should be as an appointed Engineer in a senior management position.
Underground mining experience is essential
Minerals Act Regulations (14.1) appointment
