Engineer / Project Manager

SUMMARY:

Our client, a company specialising in solar plants globally, is offering a variety of services from, project development to financing, project realization, operation, and maintenance is seeking an Engineer / Project Manager to join their relaxed corporate team based in the Western Cape.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• BSC Degree / BTech Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
• Advantageous: Knowledge and experience in Photovoltaic / Renewable Energy Engineering.
• Advantageous: Registered as a member with ECSA.

Technical Requirements:

• MS Office literacy (Visio, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook essential).
• HelioScope and,
• PVSyst and,
• Auto Cad.

Main Responsibilities:

• System specification, design and lay-out of PV plants for South African and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) market, using tools such PVSyst and Auto Cad.
• Create Electrical schematics, wire sizing, determine quantities, select components, and specify all components to provide the optimal configuration.
• Manage and perform maintenance of solar installation projects for commercial clients.
• Complete drafting of technical drawings.
• Technical support for proposal preparation.
• Implementation of system design standards and optimizations proposed by international system design and construction teams from all offices.
• Proactively manage projects impacts and risks to ensure appropriate control measures are implemented and provided. Liaison with clients to keep them informed on project progress.
• Connection discussions/approval and grid access – Eskom/municipalities.
• Procure equipment and materials.
• Maintain up to date and accurate records for site attendance.
• Compliance to company’s standards and to regional standards and regulations.
• Ensure seamless technical documentation of PV power plants.
• Technical advisory and support for Project Development, Management, Operation and Maintenance, Sales and Project Finance departments.
• Provide training and guidance to the team members about every aspect of the project so that the team member understands their tasks fully and act on them efficiently.
• Supervise and manage all site-based operatives, oversee all site-based operatives, oversee all aspects of their work, to include carrying out safety inductions; controlling quality of work.
