Exciting opportunity to lead the design, coordination, and execution of HVAC systems for process, utility, and facility projects in the pharmaceutical industry.

POSITION INFO:

Our Engineering recruitment desk is currently partnering with a leading client to appoint a Senior HVAC Project Engineer who will provide both technical and execution leadership on HVAC projects within the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector.

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives on taking full ownership of HVAC project delivery — from concept and detailed design through installation, commissioning, and validation — within highly regulated environments.

The core function of this role is to lead the design, coordination, and full execution of HVAC systems for process, utility, and facility projects within the pharmaceutical sector. You will assume end-to-end accountability for HVAC system design, including heat load calculations, equipment selection, schematics, and P&IDs. You will be responsible for directing and overseeing site installations, commissioning processes, and final handover activities.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
5–10 years’ experience in HVAC engineering, preferably within pharmaceutical or regulated industrial environments
Proven experience delivering HVAC projects from design through to commissioning
Strong understanding of GMP, GEP, HVAC validation, and cleanroom principles
Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD (2D layouts, P&IDs; Revit advantageous)
Proficient in MS Project, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams
Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills

Other Requirements

Willingness to travel to project sites across South Africa
Valid driver’s licence and passport
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent projects
