Engineer Representative

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking an engineer’s representative to join their dynamic project team. In this role, you’ll be the eyes and ears of the Engineer on site — ensuring the works are carried out to specification, managing day-to-day site activities, and liaising with contractors and stakeholders. POSITION INFO:

Design and coordination of building civil engineering services, including stormwater management, sewage disposal systems, and potable water supply infrastructure for residential, commercial, and industrial developments
Structural design and detailing of building elements, such as reinforced concrete columns, floor slabs, structural steel frameworks, and roofing systems, ensuring both functionality and compliance with engineering standards
Integration and supervision of building mechanical and electrical services, ensuring seamless coordination of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, power supply, and lighting with architectural and structural elements
Application of building technology and adherence to the SANS 10400 National Building Regulations, including the specification of appropriate construction materials and finishes in accordance with South African building codes
Preparation, measurement, and administration of Bills of Quantities, supporting accurate project costing, contractor payments, and tender evaluations
Drafting and editing technical drawings using AutoCAD, with the ability to read, interpret, and modify design documentation to support construction and engineering teams
Implementation and monitoring of Occupational Health and Safety standards, with particular focus on compliance with the Construction Regulations of 2014 throughout all project stages
Basic understanding of ISO management systems, including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14000 (Environmental Management), and ISO 45000 (Occupational Health and Safety), with awareness of how these standards apply to engineering practices and site operations

Skills & Experience:
A minimum of eight years of professional experience in the construction industry, with a strong background in construction supervision and contract administration.

Qualification:
A National Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
