SUMMARY:
A vacancy exists in the Air Pollution Control Division, for a person who has initiative, drive and is able to work under pressure. The position requires someone who will perform well in strategic and operational management of the Engineering and Sales Department inclusive of designs reviews, technical support, departmental budgets, staffing needs, productivity, people management

POSITION INFO:

Duties:

  • Manage the engineering and design requirements of the business unit
  • Monitor progress of tasks in the engineering and sales department
  • Manage the sales and proposals functions of the business unit
  • Plan required engineering and sales resources
  • Give guidelines with regard to acceptable engineering solution and approve final designs
  • Stay abreast of developments in the associated technologies
  • Monitor technical data and available books and decide on required purchase of the latter
  • Activate the generation or updating of technical information sheets as and when required
  • Lead R&D programs
  • Assist with annual budget for the engineering and Sales department
  • Control the engineering and sales budget
  • Oversee the compilation of the technical part of tender documents for major projects
  • Advise on selling strategies from a technical perspective
  • Ensure that tenders are accurate, of high quality and on time
  • Ensure that no tender is submitted, or order from a customer accepted, unless terms and conditions relevant to the tender/order have been properly reviewed. All orders and contract confirmations received shall be scrutinised to ensure clarity as to which terms and conditions apply, and all discrepancies shall be resolved in writing before commencing the work/execution of the order
  • All major sub-contractors to be properly assessed prior to the inclusion of a price in a tender
  • Identify personal development (PDP’s) needs for departmental employees
  • Ensure that employees have the required skills for current and future clients
  • Perform all reasonable duties, not described above, required within the scope of this position to achieve company objectives

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSc. Engineering
  • Registered with ECSA

 

Experience

  • Candidates must have industry-specific experience and be familiar with the company’s product
  • 10 years’ experience in an engineering environment would be preferred
  • Advanced computer literacy including planning packages such as MS Projects
  • Proven managerial skills including the management of human resources
  • Sales & proposal activities
