Job purpose:

To lead all Manufacturing engineering, encompassing capital and process development projects, providing superior technical knowledge. Responsible for installation, maintenance and improvement of production lines, managing contractors and ensuring safety requirements are adhered to. Implement and manage continuous improvement principles and recommending changes in work practices and processes

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs, implements and refines product development, testing and manufacturing process
Manages the engineering team and assigns tasks
Leads in the development of new products, solutions and processes
Oversees project logistics and resource allocation
Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability pf processes and product designs and to reduce waste
Secures the resources needed including researching and proposing capital investments
Creates and oversees project budgets and engages in cost management strategies.
Assures that processes meet quality and safety compliance requirements
Collaborates with other internal teams and forges and maintains relationships with suppliers
Drives continuous improvement activities in quality, cycle time, process improvement, machine availability through lean techniques and value engineering to enhance the capability of of existing processes and remove waste
Develops and maintains project plans and budgets to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales
Ensure KPI’s are met

TECHNICAL PRE-REQUISITE

Expert level knowledge of sector technology and processes
Project Management Skills
Health and Safety and quality and environmental standards
Experience of new product introduction, rework design changes and upgrades through to production
Data Analytic skills and experience
Proficiency to present and display complex information to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple projects, simultaneously
Experience with computer aided design platforms
Knowledge of the automotive / manufacturing industry
Basic business and financial acumen with exposure to budgeting
People management and understanding
Safety first, LEAN and process mindset
Sound systems knowledge, including sound knowledge of the full MS Office suite
Knowledge of spot and arc (assembly) Welding
knowledge of press and weld automotive robotics / Die Maintenance
Understanding manufacturing processes, engineering and technical information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Matric
A relevant Engineering Tertiary Qualification

EXPERIENCE
8 - 10 years’ engineering experience in an automotive environment including 3 to 5 years in similar role / level Press, weld experience would be an advantage
