POSITION INFO:

Purpose of this position

The Engineering Manager will ensure overall Engineering Strategy formulation and execution plan suitable for the business. He / She is to help achieve the Company’s vision and objective by providing technical accountability and engineering support, combined with providing sustainable maintenance of
infrastructure and by ensuring compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) requirements.

2. Key Performance Areas include:

ï‚· Ensuring compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
ï‚· Leading and managing resources (labour, spares, suppliers, contractors etc.) to deliver production targets and projects as required.
ï‚· Managing key performance areas of subordinates, supporting stakeholders with troubleshooting complex and technical issues;
ï‚· Devising and implementing maintenance strategies to effectively support the operations.
ï‚· Ensuring adequate technical capacity to effectively support the maintenance requirements (people, skills, facilities, tooling, equipment & systems).
ï‚· Establishing a pro-active and performance-based engineering & maintenance culture.
ï‚· Applying value analysis (cost vs benefit) and purpose fit engineering solutions to prevailing technical issues.
ï‚· Managing by analysis and consultation in line with the engineering standards and practices.

The ideal incumbent should meet the following criteria:

ï‚· Completed B.Eng. or B Tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
ï‚· Proven track record in dealings with DMRE and unions.
ï‚· At least 5 years'' experience related experience in mining or manufacturing environment
ï‚· Understanding of applicable legislation and ability to ensure compliance, including MHSA.
ï‚· Excellent interpersonal skills, good decision making, analytical thinking and team leadership skills.
ï‚· Must have excellent communication skills, verbal, reading and writing
