Engineering Manager. Must be registered as Professional Engineer / Technologist with ECSA or SACPCMP. Preference will be given to applicants that have Toll Road or Toll Plaza experience

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Description of Position
The main responsibility of the Engineering Manager is to ensure overall Safety, especially that of the travelling Public, Engineering and Operations on behalf of the Concession and Operator on a Road

Qualification, Experience and Professional Requirements

BTech, or BEng/BSc, Civil Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer / Technologist with ECSA or SACPCMP
Minimum of 10 years Management Experience in the Construction Industry or similar environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and understanding of OHS and Environmental Acts
Knowledge and thorough understanding of Labour Legislation: Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act.
Knowledge of construction sectoral determinations
Knowledge and understanding of construction regulations
Demonstrated experience of leading an engineering function with a proven track record in strategic engineering
Leadership delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes and systems.
Knowledge and technical understanding of engineering processes, components and design techniques.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resource.
Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
Excellent command of English language (reading, writing and communicating) – Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strict adherence to confidential information
Planning, organizing, prioritizing and time management skills are important

Roles and Responsibilities
Overall accountability for Management of a roads project including:

The Safety of all Public Travellers
The implementation and adherence to all Environmental Regulations
All engineering activities
All matters relating to tolling and toll plazas
Prepare the annual Engineering budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and to facilitate delivery and compliance within the engineering strategy.
Management of all Staff, including the Operations Manager
Reporting on all activities to the Directors of both the Concession and Operator on a regular basis
