POSITION INFO:

The Head of Engineering is responsible for technical integrity of products designed and developed by the company. Tactical implementation of engineering strategy and operational goals to exceed customer expectations for product development, quality, cost and delivery, optimising and driving engineering excellence. Facilitate, direct and drive implementation of innovation driven strategy and drive. Continuous Improvement across all engineering related areas of the business. Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, manufacturing, assembly, sales and customer support regarding technical support of their activities. Responsible for all areas of the Engineering function – design, analysis, integration, testing, qualification, certification and logistic support. Ensure quality of service delivery, striving for best-in-class products to deliver to the customer’s expectations, managing teams and projects across the business.

1) Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification.
- Post graduate qualification will be a definite advantage.
- Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body is advantageous.

2) Experience:
- 10 years’ experience in Design and Engineering.
- Experience in the aerospace and defence industry will be a clear advantage.
- Demonstrable experience of leading an engineering department with a proven track record in strategic engineering leadership delivering projects and systems.
- Demonstrable experience in Systems Engineering and Configuration Management.
- Familiarity with Airworthiness and Certification compliance will be an advantage
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
- Proven project management and supplier experience.
- Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level.
