Engineering Superintendent - Mining/Engineering Industry

Minimum requirements for the role:

• A BSc. Degree or Diploma or N6 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
• A Mechanical Trade certificate is preferred but not essential.
• A GCC in Mines and Works would be advantageous but not essential.
• Previous experience having worked as an Engineering Superintendent or in a similar role within the in Heavy Engineering or Mineral Processing Equipment or related big operational industries is preferred.
• The successful candidate must have maintained a large number of mobile machinery (yellow fleet).
• The successful candidate must have strong asset management skills and knowledge.
• The successful candidate must be computer literate in Microsoft Office.
• Previous experience having mentored and trained subordinates is essential.
• The successful candidate must have strong leadership qualities and problem-solving capability with good planning and communication skills.
• The successful candidate must be financially astute with experience in budgeting, forecasting and cost management.
• The successful candidate must be fluent in mining laws and safety regulations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Ensure that mobile machine and plant equipment are available and safe for use.
• Enforce Company rules and safety regulations.
• Complete CAPEX documentation as required for the Department.
• Conduct equipment failure investigation and root cause analysis.
• Prepare and negotiate budgets and monitor spending.
• Manage and oversee all the people, equipment, tools and materials in area of responsibility.
• Lead and participate in Management meetings and briefings.
