Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Our client in the automotive manufacturing industry requires an experienced EHS Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Responsible for all compounding research and development issues. Monitoring of laboratory technicians and improving the process of testing rubber and mixing rubber compounds.
• Responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted.
• Responsible for the maintenance and implementation of the Plant's OHSAS 18001 Health and safety and ISO 14001 Environmental standards.
• Responsible for safety orientation and safety training, job site inspections and reporting.
• Maintain awareness of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations and make recommendations for their implementation.
• Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations
• Responsible for monitoring adherence to the Company safety program by all employees and subcontractors.
• Develop and maintain hygiene programs and relevant legal surveys
• Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
• Provide new employee health and safety orientations, and develop materials for this presentation
• Carrying out accident investigations on site producing subsequent reports and recommendations
• Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy
• Carry out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce the company's environmental risks and financial
• Participate in the drive to reduce repair / defect rates of finished products

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree or 3-year ND in Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent qualification or Equivalent 5 years experience in ESH management role
• Minimum 3 years experience at Occupational Health & Safety Management level 1
• Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and
• Environmental Act and relevant legislation.
• Rubber industry experience will be an advantage
• Working knowledge of ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001
