Estimator (Logistics Industry)

SUMMARY:
The focus of the Estimator portion is to prepare estimates and deliver quotes that are prepared timeously, accurately, and well thought through.
To deliver solutions and options for various modes and incoterms. To understand the client's business needs and educate both internal and external clients where needed with focus to maximize profitability. the role also includes sourcing service providers to improve the reach and service offering of the C&F division, and to build relationships with suppliers. It is an important contributor and needs to reflect the values regarding work ethic and service of the group.

KPI's:

• Contribute to the overall increase of GP through excellent turn around times and attention to detail.
• Operate within agreed expenditure budget.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Awareness of international trade and associated risks, rules and regulations.
• Provide accurate and timeous reports as requested by management monthly.
• Staying up to date with current market and trends.
• Input into own personal development plan.
• Build solid product/ service and industry knowledge.
• Receive quote requests, log them on the system, and provide feedback regarding outstanding info required or expected completion date/ time.
• Communicate any delays or potential problems with estimates.
• Tracking of shipments.
• Deal with daily request and queries.
• Build and maintain strong relations with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
• Escalate unresolved complaints to management.
• Continuously seek opportunities to add value to the team and build the business.
• Communicate any delays or potential problems with shipment bookings and/ or documentation.
• Maintain schedules, shipping line charges for various shipping lines for import, export and break bulk.
• Assist with collating info for certificates of origin, SADC certificates, permits.
• Assist with processing shipping documentation i.e. Bills of lading, submitting shipping instructions.
• Assist with processing of cargo dues orders.
• Deal with daily request/ queries by controllers and customers.
• Escalate unresolved complaints to management.

• Knowledge & understanding of the Clearing & Forwarding industry, including full supply chain import & export process flows.
• Ability to enter new markets.
• Strong understanding of client and market dynamics and requirements.
• Understanding of basic aspects of costing within the supply chain.

• Senior certificate (NQF 4)
• Sales & negotiation skills related training.
• 3-5 Years proven experience in the Clearing & Forwarding and/or Supply Chain Industry.
• Relevant tertiary qualification will be beneficial.
• Shipshape experience will advantageous.

• South African citizen
• Excellent English & Afrikaans oral & written communication skills.
• Computer literate.
• Accurate, attention to detail.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Deadline driver and ability to work under presssure.
• Valid driver's license & own vehicle advantageous.
• Willing to work overtime and be available after business hours if and when required.
