SUMMARY:
The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed quotations, and supporting the tendering process for welding, mechanical, and fabrication projects. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, conducting site assessments when required, and collaborating with the engineering and production teams to ensure cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, hands-on industry knowledge, and the ability to balance precision with deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and tender documents for mechanical, welding, and fabrication projects.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and project requirements to determine material, labour, and time needs.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and evaluate cost competitiveness.
Work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure estimates align with technical and operational requirements.
Track project costs, identify variances, and support cost-control measures.
Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems.

Minimum Requirements

3–5 years estimating experience within welding, mechanical, and fabrication environments.
Strong understanding of materials, processes, and production workflows in the engineering sector.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.

Qualifications

NQF 6 in Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
SACQSP registration advantageous.
