Ethics & Compliance Officer

SUMMARY:
The group is on the lookout for an Ethics and Compliance Officer. This role will ensure that our members are conducting themselves in full compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, as well as professional standards, accepted business practices, and internal standards. The role would suit a dynamic, skilled, and experienced individual looking for a new challenge. An Ethics and Compliance Officer must be an ethical, highly organized multitasker able to work in a fast-paced business environment and be able to meet tight deadlines. This is a remote, work-from-home position. Candidates must be located in Gauteng and legally eligible to work in the South Africa
 

POSITION INFO:
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
 
         3 - 5 years relevant experience.

• Knowledge of membership organisations for accountants would be highly advantageous.
• Advanced computer literacy with the ability to quickly adapt to new software applications
• Previous customer/ client services experience
• Legal Diploma/Degree

• Ensure that all members are compliant in terms of the CPD hours required per designation per annum.
• Ensure that all activities undertaken to ensure compliance to CPD requirements are logged on the membership system.
• Assist Professional Portfolio Consultants with any compliance and related queries as and when needed.
• Ensure that compliance reminders are circulated to non-compliant members and penalties for non-compliance are issued as per CPD policy.
• Process CPD exemption applications.
• Assist members in implementing the new Quality Management (QM) Standards (ISQM1 and ISQM 2) Annual member declarations · Ensure that members complete and submit all the required annual declarations (including CPD, Non-Compliance with Laws And Regulations (NOCLAR & Annual Practice Licenses (APL)); Recognised Controlling Body (RCB) Compliance
• Ensure that the criminal status of all Tax Practitioners are checked annually as per SARS’s requirements and maintain detailed records; · Maintain a database of Tax Practitioners in the media identified by SARS to see if they are members or not.
• Ensure that Tax Practitioners who cancelled their membership and suspended members are removed from the RCB portal.
• Ensure that Tax Practitioners are SARS compliant prior to their annual Tax License renewals. Complaints against members
• Attend to complaints received from the public against members;
• Ensure that a proper log is maintained and that complaints are dealt with in a timeous and professional manner. Critical Skills
• Process Critical Skills applications. and all such other tasks and duties as are reasonably and lawfully incidental to the above.
