Events & Tents Operations Manager

SUMMARY:
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an Events & Tents Operations Manager based in Somerset West, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in event operations, tented events, logistics, or a related operational field, with proven experience managing teams in high-pressure environments. You will be responsible for overseeing large-scale and high-end events, ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, and seamless on-site execution. Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with hands-on experience with stretch tents, marquees, staging, rigging, or other temporary structures. A valid South African driver’s license (Code B minimum) is required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in event operations, tented events, logistics, or a related operational field
• Proven experience managing teams in high-pressure environments
• Strong operational planning and organisational skills
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Calm, decisive, and solutions-driven under pressure
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and during peak event periods
• Physically capable of being present and active on-site when required
• Professional, reliable, and accountable
• Strong work ethic with a hands-on management approach
• Valid South African driver’s license (Code B minimum; EB/C1 advantageous)
• Direct experience with stretch tents, marquees, staging, rigging, or large temporary structures
• Knowledge of South African event safety and compliance requirements
• Experience in large-scale or high-end events
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all tented and event installations and breakdowns.
• Ensure events are delivered on time, within scope, and to required quality standards.
• Anticipate and resolve operational challenges on-site.

• Schedule crews, vehicles, and equipment for events.
• Coordinate transport, loading, and offloading of event infrastructure.
• Ensure accurate event planning and preparation prior to site delivery.

• Oversee warehouse operations, including stock control and equipment allocation.
• Ensure tents and event equipment are maintained, repaired, and stored correctly.
• Monitor asset usage, losses, and damages.

• Manage permanent staff, casual crews, and subcontractors.
• Provide clear instruction, supervision, and performance feedback.
• Enforce discipline, productivity, and professional conduct.

• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards on all sites.
• Conduct site risk assessments and enforce safe work practices.
• Ensure teams are properly briefed and equipped.

• Liaise with clients, venues, suppliers, and internal sales teams.
• Represent the company professionally on-site.
• Address client concerns and ensure service expectations are met.

• Monday to Friday: 08h00 – 17h00
• Every second Saturday: 08h00 – 12h00
