FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

SUMMARY:
Manufacturing company situated in the Edenvale area seeking an experienced and qualified Financial Controller.

POSITION INFO:

Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the full financial function of the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and providing insightful management information to support strategic and operational decision-making. The role requires advanced Excel skills, with a strong preference for dashboard development and financial analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Manage the full finance function including general ledger, debtors, creditors, and fixed assets
• Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and commentary
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Manage audit processes and liaise with external auditors

Management Reporting & Analysis

• Develop and maintain Excel-based dashboards for financial and operational reporting
• Track KPIs including profitability, margins, project/job costing, and working capital
• Provide financial insights to support operational and commercial decisions
• Perform cost analysis relating to manufacturing, repairs, and service operations

Excel, Systems & Process Improvement

• Design advanced Excel models, templates, and reporting tools
• Automate reports and improve efficiency using advanced Excel functions (Pivot Tables, Power Query, complex formulas, macros advantageous)
• Improve financial controls, reporting accuracy, and internal processes
• Assist with ERP / accounting system improvements or integrations

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Supervise and support finance staff (if applicable)
• Work closely with operations, procurement, and management teams
• Provide financial guidance to non-financial managers

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting / Finance or similar (essential)
• Professional qualification (SAICA / CIMA / SAIPA) – advantageous

Experience

• Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant role
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, mining, or industrial environments highly advantageous
• Strong exposure to job costing, project costing, or repair/manufacturing cost structures

Technical Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (essential)
