Farm Workshop Diesel Mechanic

Type: Permanent (Live in position)

Our client based in the Farming / Forestry sector based outside of the Greytown region seeks to employ a FARM WORKSHOP DIESEL MECHANIC with a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position and environment is required.

• This will be a live in position with housing etc included.
• A Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic would be preferred BUT the client would consider a semi-skilled Diesel Mechanic who has minimum 3 years or more experience in a similar position based in a Farm Workshop.
• This position is available for someone seeking long term employment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Previous experience with farm vehicles and equipment
• Working hours will include:
• 06h30am – 16h00pm (Mon – Fri)
• Standby every second weekend
• Overtime + Emergency breakdowns
• Repairs and servicing on Vehicles & equipment’s (Bell logger, Tractors, Bulldozer and bakkies)
• Repairs and servicing on Chainsaws (Husky & Stihl)
• Repairs and servicing on Water Pumps for firefighting
• Maintenance and checks on all vehicles and equipment’s
• General workshop duties
• Workshop admin : Job cards and service registers
• Workshop store stock control
• Assist with breakdowns on the farm
• Maintenance around workshop premises
• Issuing of Petrol, Oils and Diesel

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic or Semi-Skilled Diesel Mechanic with Min 3++ years’ experience within a Farm Workshop environment (req)
• Mechanical, Electrical and Auto Electrical experience on Farm Vehicles & Equipment (req)
• Chainsaw repairs and servicing (exp)
• Water pump servicing and repairs (Pumps for firefighting)
• Hydraulic pipes and repairs
• Admin and record keeping skills
• Firefighting in Forestry or Farm (adv)
• Grinding and welding skills
• Time management, planning and leadership skills
• Other workshop skills and experience (adv)
• Code 14 (PDP) would be an advantage/not compulsory
• Honest, Dedicated, Hard-working and Loyal
• Willing to learn from other team members (for skills lacking)
• Traceable references & Clear criminal record (req)
• Zulu & English speaking (req)
