Finance Business Partner – Production & Manufacturing

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the financial business partner to production and manufacturing teams
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the end-to-end production process, from raw materials to finished goods
• Own and manage production costing, including:
  • Bill of materials (BOMs)
  • Standard vs actual costing
  • Cost of production and variance analysis
  • Yield, wastage, and efficiency analysis
• Ensure accurate inventory valuation, stock evaluation, and reconciliation across:
  • Raw materials
  • Work-in-progress (WIP)
  • Finished goods
• Support pricing and margin analysis to enable informed commercial decision-making
• Translate production data into meaningful financial insights for management
• Actively engage with operations on the floor to identify cost drivers, inefficiencies, and optimisation opportunities
• Ensure strong integration between production activity and accounting outputs (raw, WIP, finished goods accounting)
• Lead and develop a small finance team (3–4 direct reports)
• Ensure integrity and effective use of the ERP costing module, including data accuracy and system discipline
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting with a strong cost and production focus

Minimum Requirements

• B.Com Degree (Honours strongly preferred)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience at management level, including people management
• Proven experience in a production/manufacturing environment (non-negotiable)
• Strong background in:
  • Production costing
  • Raw material costing
  • Inventory and stock valuation
  • Cost of production accounting
• Hands-on experience working with ERP systems, specifically costing and inventory modules
• Strong understanding of how production processes integrate with accounting systems
• High attention to detail and a naturally analytical mindset
• Willingness to be present on the production floor and engage operationally
