JOB SUMMARY:
A rapidly expanding construction company based in JHB is looking for a strong Financial Officer to oversee and manage all financial matters within the company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Managing the company’s overall financial position and matching it to the financial targets.
Keeping accurate tracks of all expenses, liabilities, and projected costs.
Tracking profitability by creating a budget for each site of a construction project.
Working closely with the estimator and purchaser to ensure alignment on costs and expenditure.
Predicting future challenges and associated costs.
Manage and monitor Company accounting procedures, policies, and internal controls.
Monthly maintenance of the Company’s General Ledger and the month-end process.
Ensuring accurate and timeous financial reporting and submissions for the Company – Internal & External.
Presentation of Management Reports to Management.
Ensure timeous completion and submission of the provisional tax returns, the annual tax return and monthly VAT returns for the Company.
Control over intercompany and related party transactions within the Company.
An affective member of the management team.
Ensure the company’s profitability, liquidity, and solvency, making sure it earns the maximum return on liquid assets and incurs minimum expenses on borrowed capital.
Ensure that margins on jobs are maximized through cost recovery.
Forecast financial future and anticipate monetary needs of company, maintaining its creditworthiness.
Internal and external financial reporting.
Monitor and forecast the company’s financial status.
Ensure that the Finance Department is an asset to all other departments.
Use training as a motivational tool to increase the skills of others.
Represent company in financial matters, effectively communicating information.
Ensure that all company assets are safe from theft and misappropriation.
Maintain strong company relationships with banks and sureties.
Comply with the terms of agreement between the bank and contractor.
Establish a strong financial and operational reporting system with sureties.
An administrator for insurance, income tax, etc
