About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our client’s finance team. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong expertise in bank reconciliations, multi-currency transactions, VAT compliance, and payment processing, and is eager to take on a larger share of responsibility within a collaborative finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Perform bank reconciliations across multiple local and international accounts.
Manage and reconcile multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange adjustments.
Load and process bank payments, ensuring validity, supporting documentation, and necessary approvals.
Conduct monthly VAT reconciliations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Support month-end and year-end close processes efficiently.
Ensure timely and accurate payments while maintaining financial integrity.
Liaise with internal departments to ensure proper financial documentation and coding.
Maintain precision in transaction capturing and record-keeping using accounting systems.
Complex Supplier Reconciliations
Assist with audit preparation and financial reporting as required.

Requirements

3–5 years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
Strong expertise in bank reconciliations, handling multiple accounts, and managing high-value transactions.
Practical experience in loading and validating payments.
Solid understanding of multi-currency finance and foreign exchange transactions.
Proficiency in VAT calculations and complex reconciliations.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
Familiarity with Xero.
Bookkeeping/accounting certification is highly advantageous.
Some audit experience is beneficial.
Experience in the tourism/travel industry is preferred but not required.
