About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our client’s finance team. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong expertise in bank reconciliations, multi-currency transactions, VAT compliance, and payment processing, and is eager to take on a larger share of responsibility within a collaborative finance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations across multiple local and international accounts.
• Manage and reconcile multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange adjustments.
• Load and process bank payments, ensuring validity, supporting documentation, and necessary approvals.
• Conduct monthly VAT reconciliations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes efficiently.
• Ensure timely and accurate payments while maintaining financial integrity.
• Liaise with internal departments to ensure proper financial documentation and coding.
• Maintain precision in transaction capturing and record-keeping using accounting systems.
• Complex Supplier Reconciliations
• Assist with audit preparation and financial reporting as required.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
• Strong expertise in bank reconciliations, handling multiple accounts, and managing high-value transactions.
• Practical experience in loading and validating payments.
• Solid understanding of multi-currency finance and foreign exchange transactions.
• Proficiency in VAT calculations and complex reconciliations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
• Familiarity with Xero.
• Bookkeeping/accounting certification is highly advantageous.
• Some audit experience is beneficial.
• Experience in the tourism/travel industry is preferred but not required.
