We’re looking for a hands-on, operationally involved CA(SA) who’s ready to trade traffic lights for tranquillity, and corporate routine for real impact. Based in Swellendam, this role blends the best of both worlds: small-town calm meets big-picture financial leadership.
As the operationally involved Accountant, you’ll be the right hand of the business - owning accounting, reporting, and operational finance. You’ll build and implement financial structures that make sense, strengthen controls that actually work, and ensure that the business runs like a well-oiled machine.
This is more than month-end numbers - it’s strategy, systems, and storytelling from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of financial accounting, reporting, and operational finance.
- Design and embed fit-for-purpose internal controls and risk management frameworks.
- Lead month-end close, reconciliations, and management reporting.
- Oversee inventory valuations, costing, and variance analysis.
- Prepare year-end audit files and ensure IFRS and tax compliance.
- Drive process improvements and streamline workflows for efficiency.
- Use SAP BI (or similar ERP) to translate data into insight and action.
Job Experience and Skills Required:- CA(SA), registered with SAICA.
- 3–5 years post-articles experience in finance/accounting (manufacturing or FMCG preferred).
- Proven experience implementing controls and documenting financial processes.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and ERP systems (SAP experience advantageous).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
- Strong communication and report-writing ability.
- Comfortable leading in a fast-paced operational environment - even if the nearest city is a few mountain passes away.
