A well-established project-based construction and engineering group is looking for a Senior Accountant who understands the realities of site-driven finance, project cost control and deadline pressure.

This role suits a hands-on accountant who enjoys ownership, structure and accountability within a dynamic environment.

Company and Job Description

Operating within the construction and engineering sector, this business delivers complex projects requiring strong financial governance and operational finance support. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in overseeing the full finance function, ensuring accuracy, control and compliance across projects.

This is not a passive reporting role — you’ll be involved in day-to-day finance operations, supporting management with reliable financial insight and maintaining strong control over AR, AP and project finances.

Key Responsibilities

- Full financial accounting function (FFF)
- Monthly management accounts and reporting
- Oversight and review of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable clerks
- Project cost tracking and financial control
- Balance sheet reconciliations and journals
- Supporting audits and year-end processes
- Ensuring financial compliance across projects

Job Experience and Skills Required

Education:
- BCom Accounting / Finance (minimum requirement)
Experience:
- 3–5+ years’ experience in a Senior Accountant or Accountant role
- Construction, engineering or project-based industry experience (non-negotiable)
- Proven exposure to full finance function

Systems:
- BuildSmart system experience (highly advantageous)
- Strong Excel skills
Other Requirements:
- Based in or willing to commute to Irene
- Male candidates welcome
- Strong leadership ability to manage and guide clerks
- Deadline-driven, structured and detail-oriented
