SUMMARY:
Financial Accountant (retail)- Montclair, Durban

POSITION INFO:
A national brand is currently seeking a dynamic candidate to join their Durban-based team. The role will focus on developing the operational aspects of the admin and finance departments for 10 of their retail outlets and maintaining these systems thereafter. This is a very hands-on on role in a fast-paced environment.

Duties will include:

Leading a team of 5 people in the Finance Department, including training & schedules
Full Financial Accounting function up to Trial Balance
Implementation and maintenance of accounting controls
Managing the Asset Register and stock, implementing strong stock controls
Monthly management accounts and full System Audits
General Ledger reconciliations & cash book management
Preparation of Trial Balance and quality working paper files
Drafting of Annual Financial Statements
Preparation of all statutory functions in terms of SARS recons and submissions
Completion and submission of VAT Returns timeously.

Requirements:

B.Comm with completed articles and SAIPA registration
8-10 years of experience in a retail business environment as a full function Accountant
Strong technical accounting skills and related problem-solving ability
Proven competency with Pastel Partner and advanced Excel skills
Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
Excellent leadership skills
Highly systems oriented- must be able to set up systems and implement controls
Exceptional time-management skills, able to multitask and prioritize effectively under time pressure
Code 8 drivers license and own vehicle.
