Financial Accountant

SUMMARY:
A progressive entity in the financial service sector is seeking a Financial Accountant (preferably a CA) to join their team. The main responsibilities of the accountant will be to coordinate and complete financial month end within set deadlines, with specific focus on IFRS and tax compliance, finance related reporting, compilation of Annual financial statements yearly.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• Preferred CA(SA) qualification
• A sound knowledge of accounting practice
• statutory IFRS and management accounting as well as experience in finance month end reporting
• At least 5 years financial services, preferably transactional and microfinance banking industry experience.
• Knowledge of Pastel evolution would be helpful
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience in problem solving and taking ownership for dispute resolution.
• Ability to learn quickly and be flexible around deliverables
• Corporate Income Tax and VAT knowledge should be up to date

Performance Areas (Responsibilities) and Experience:

• Ad hoc duties for line manager – Head: Treasury and Regulatory & CFO and other value add to the business
• Key correspondent South African Reserve Bank and completion of Monthly DI returns
• Full financial function and accounting to trial balance
• Completion of monthly DI returns to SAR
• Be key correspondent (with the Support of management)
• Reporting and preparing financial information for monthly management reporting in accordance with IFRS
• Analysis of monthly management reports/financial statements for variances to budgets
• Follow-up and corrective action agreed with business partners and Financial Manager and resultant commentary
• Overseeing the monthly Management Information Pack Preparing a year-end audit file for responsible divisions
• Assisting in the year-end audit and dealing with auditors
• Correspondent with Group finance relating to Annual financial statements layout and preparation
