SUMMARY:
Job Description
Purpose of the Position
The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing and monitoring the financial activities of the hospitality establishment, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, and compliance with financial regulations. The role supports management in making informed financial decisions to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain accurate accounting records and financial systems.
Manage general ledger accounts and reconciliations.
Monitor cash flow and banking activities.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor departmental budgets and expenditure.
Analyse financial performance against budgets.

Accounts and Payroll

Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Process supplier payments and customer invoicing.
Assist with payroll administration and statutory deductions.

Reporting and Analysis

Prepare financial reports for management.
Analyse revenue, expenses, and profitability.
Provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.

Compliance and Auditing

Ensure compliance with tax regulations and financial legislation.
Prepare documents for internal and external audits.
Maintain accurate records for auditing purposes.

Hospitality Operations Support

Monitor food and beverage costs.
Control stock and inventory systems.
Assist with pricing strategies and revenue management.

POSITION INFO:
Job Specification
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Professional accounting qualification is advantageous.

Experience

3–5 years’ experience in accounting or finance.
Previous experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.

Knowledge

Financial accounting principles and practices.
Budgeting and forecasting.
Tax regulations and payroll administration.
Hospitality financial operations and cost control.

Skills

Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Excel and accounting software).
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Time management and organisational skills.

Working Conditions

Office-based environment within a hospitality establishment such as a hotel, lodge, or resort.
