Job Position: Financial Accountant

Location: Johannesburg (Selby)

Salary:  R65 000 per month CTC commensurate with experience including medical aid and pension fund

Qualifications / Requirements

• B.Com: Accounting Degree
• Chartered Accountant preferable
• Drivers license and own reliable vehicle
• Minimum of 5 years accounting, financial management and tax experience
• Accounting packages
• Strong Excel skills required
• Financial information systems controls experience desirable
• Financial statement drafting packages desirable
• Team management experience required
• Ability to competently use Microsoft Suite of products required
• Financial accounting
• IFRS financial reporting
• Financial systems and internal controls
• Strong financial and numeracy skills
• Financial report writing and data manipulation and interrogation skills

Key Performance Areas:

• Financial accounting:

-        Month end close and related procedures including updating and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations

-        Daily operational tasks relating to general ledger and sub ledger maintenance including fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable

-        Assist with annual external audit complete requested material and in preparing assigned schedules

-        Monitor and control the compilation of financial reports according to internal, external client needs

-        Develop, monitor and review departmental accounting policies, procedures and processes

-        Respond to financial inquiries

-        Manage deliverables and monthly performance

-        Manage departmental customer queries and escalations

-        Cash management and treasury functions including capturing and reconciliation

-        Compile and submit intercompany Trust statements and reports

-        Reconcile account schedules with the general ledger according to company’s procedures and policies to ensure maximum accountability

-        Compile ad-hoc reports according to client requirements to ensure effective financial decision making by providing timeous and correct information according to company’s policies and procedures

-        Manage the re-allocation of costs according to company’s financial procedures and client needs to ensure the correct allocation of costs

-        Assist with compilation of company’s financial statements

-        Compile statutory financial statements to ensure accountability and adherence to legislator requirements

-        Compilation of company’s tax returns (CIT, VAT, EMP, WHT) according to financial statements and by applying the applicable tax legislation to ensure accountability and adherence to South African tax legislation

-        Review monthly administered funds transactions

-        Analyse, interpret and reconcile information related to administered funds transactions

-        Identify root causes for differences and propose corrective actions to rectify differences identified

-        Review current process flows and identify opportunities for improvement

-        Review and distribute administered funds statistics and required reports

-        Inter-departmental liaison including working closely with financial accounting team to ensure all transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger

-        Monitor and review cash and bank process

-        Review cash and bank accuracy and compliance with procedures

-        Co-ordinate outstanding financial inputs from branches

-        Verify financial reconciliations

-        Control and monitor bank accounts daily

-        Capture journals and deposits on accounting system review cash books

-        Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable and fixed assets
